Reminds me of: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, Pirates of the Caribbean movies, West World T.V. Show and The Red Queen Series.
“Only the violets know.”
Below is a full spoiler booktalk but if you would like no spoilers this review is 100% spoiler free!
Wow, what can I say about this book that I haven’t already rambled on about in my booktalk! I loved this story, and it reminded me exactly why I love to read. Our main character Mavis is a kick ass strong-willed girl, and I adored her. She didn’t take anyone’s crap even the dreamy pirate Becks (we will get to him in a moment!) As she learns more about the purple question mark on her and what it means to be a violet, I became more invested in her story. Now let’s talk about my new book boyfriend Beck. This boy is so funny and caring that I can’t wait to see more of him in the second book which comes out this year! I didn’t trust him a lot in the beginning, but boy did he grow on me and now with what happened at the end of this book I have to know how he is feeling. Beck is caring and kind even though you might now see it all the time. Also, he is a pirate which reminds me of one of my first crushes which was Orlando Bloom as Will Turner (fun fact I also had a crush on Legolas which explains a lot) Every place we travel in this novel kept me engaged and craving more of this world.
If you are looking for a fun and fast read that keeps you on the edge of your seat, then you are defiantly going to want to pick up The Violet Theory by Elodie Iver ASAP! Another plus is that this is an indie book which means you are supporting Elodie in making the second book!
